COMMITTED ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
The Opal Coast Chamber of Commerce and Industry has adopted and applied an environmental policy for several years.
In November 2010, the PERS certification (Port Environment Review System), issued by the EcoPorts association rewarded its efforts to control and reduce the impacts and effects associated with port activity.
After Marseille, the Port of Calais is now the second French port to obtain PERS certification..
The ECOPORTS ASSOCIATION : the port of Calais joined the ECOPORTS association in January 2008 in order to enhance its existing environmental management systems, as well as strengthen and improve its policy of sustainable management.
The ECOPORTS Foundation is an association created in 1999 by European ports for the benefit of ports and port communities, and is backed by the ESPO (European Seaports Organisation) and the European Commission.
It is a network of ports and port stakeholders who share their experience on the environment with the objective to create in Europe a common field of action on sustainable management issues in ports. To do so, ECOPORTS has developed a network of ports and set up tools to allow port authorities to share their solutions / experiences in the environment.
