CALAIS, FRANCE’S LEADING PASSENGER PORT
As the leading port in France and the second largest in Europe for travellers, last year over 10 million passengers chose Calais, the port which is nearest to England
An exceptional location, the shortest route to England. The port is located less than three hours from Paris, London and Brussels; and is connected to several motorways (A16, A26 and A25 in France, M20 and M2 in the UK) and railways criss-crossing Europe.
A safe, welcoming port which offers many services 24/7, 364 days of the year.
No less will do for Calais to become the traditional, uncontested leader in Cross-channel passenger and ro-ro traffic. In Calais, this activity is by far the largest and most important of all port activities.
Two companies, SeaFrance and P&O, ensure about forty seventy-five minute crossings per day.
The fleet is composed of ferries with full amenities, particularly the “baby” of the P&O family, the Spirit of Britain, which arrived in January. At 213 metres in length, it is the largest ferry ever to run the Calais-Dover line. It can hold up to 2,000 passeners, 250 cars in addition to 180 trucks. By its facilities and amenities, this new generation of ferry has many points in common with cruise ships.e.
